Trade Mission to Morocco

Balms Abogados and Balms & Cruz Morocco organized a trade mission together with Galician business leaders belonging to the Galician Association of Metallurgical Manufacturues (ASIME) in May of this year to explore and learn about business opportunities in the region.

The Spanish delegation, composed of nine business leaders from the metallurgical sector visited instalations and projects at the Tánger-Méditerranée (Tánger-Med) port. The new port, located just 15km from the Spanish coastline, presented an infrastructure and plan for the year 2015 that would help revitalize the port of Algeciras as well as the rest of the Mediterranean in order to help attract more maritime traffic and help transform it into the principal port for Southern Europe and North Africa.

Following the port visit, a working meeting was organized with banks in the region at the offices of Balms & Cruz Morocco, situated in the well-known California urbanization. Attending the meeting were Juan Luis Balmaseda de Ahumada y Díez, founding partner of Balms Lawyers, Balms & Cruz Morocco and Balms Group International; José de Carvajal Salido, general counsel for Spain in Tangiers; and Mohamed Oulkhouir, directing partner of Balms & Cruz Morocco.

On the second day of work, the members of the trade mission met with the directors of the Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Service in Tangiers (CCIST) to receive detailed information about possible business opportunities and established procedures for operating and implementing their projects in the region.
